Galashiels is a vibrant community with plenty to do all year round.
Galashiels has a rich history beginning in 1124, which is commemorated annually in the Braw Lads' Gathering. Also Old Gala House and the history of Gala Rugby Football Club and Gala Fairydean Football Club.
Galashiels Braw Lads Gathering begins with the popular Scottish Country Dance. Childrens' discos, sports, local visits, and a fancy dress night follow, along with re-enactments of ancient ceremonies, an overseas reception and an Investiture Concert. Braw Lads' Day sees a ceremonial ride around the neighbouring countryside.
